According to a Kansas City Star article,Overland Park’s newest school Blue Valley Southwest is set to open for students August 18th although some activities have already started. The massive 321,924 square feet of school is large enough to hold 1,600 students,although enrollment is expected to be about 825. There is a state-of-the-art biology lab and a Performing Arts Center. The school features also features a saltwater pool. 
The school also has a full gym in addition to a state-of-the-art weight room
and there is no shortage of windows.

Students at the new Blue Valley Southwest will find a skywalk near the cafeteria that has wireless internet and plenty of power outlets with space to work and overlook the school’s courtyard.
The construction cost of the 321,924 square foot building was $61.1 million. The school is
located at 17600 Quivira in Overland Park.
